Skills Development

4% of our total payroll is spent on accredited training and we have a dedicated training and development department, which is tasked with the upliftment of skills in all areas of the business. However, this responsibility has an important Historically Disadvantaged Individuals (HDI) bias. We have both internal and external training programmes targeted at HDI candidates at all levels of the business, with preference being given to HDI candidates when selecting candidates for any training.

Key in our transformation strategy is the upliftment and development of staff for promotion from within. This begins with Basic Adult Based Education and continues through to top management. We also leverage programmes offered to us through the group such as the Edge Leadership Programme, the Group Academy and trust-sponsored training through Ikaheng.
