For the past number of years, Europcar has offered learnership opportunities as one of the components of our transformation strategy. These learnership programmes aim to fulfil needs within the business and addressnational scarce and critical skills gaps. In the 2010/11 skills year, Europcar implemented two learnership programmes for 46 HDI candidates:

Certificate in Travel (NQF 5): This programme has 15 unemployed young people undertaking the National, a programme which not only addresses the Tourism Sector Skills Plan, but also contributes to the pool of talent that will boost the future of tourism in South Africa.

National Certificate in Generic Management (NQF 5): This programme has 31 employed learners and is an important component of the succession plan that will see successful candidates contribute to the leadership pipeline in the business. It also addresses critical management skills identified through the current National Skills Development Strategy.
